Jack Caldwell '79

I'm Jack Caldwell (BS '79). I had the Friday afternoon slot from 2 to 5. We didn't have a playlist, so I got to play just about anything I wanted. Just remember to read the PSA's. Because of our lack of records, I had to haul my own collection to the station with me. Many times my replacement would either not show up or run real late, so I would have to sign off and shut the place down.

My best memory was the hour-long "Michael Jackson does Star Wars" parody I did (inter-cutting a recording of Jackson retelling the Star Wars story line with appropriate music, to humorous effect). Peggy Miles, my station manager, loved it but chewed me out for not taping it. It was a classic.

A couple of FM-types wanted me to go into radio, but I was bright enough to realize I wanted to make more money than that. Hey, maybe that Centenary degree paid off, after all!
